The Phillies have made their first deal of the new year, sending a bird to the Cincinnati Reds for minor league pitcher Blake Lively. The trade is one of the most unusual in history as it features an animal and an actress most people didn’t realize were in the Reds’ minor league system.
No word yet on what kind of bird was sent to the Reds, although early reports are indicating it was a very old one without much skill. Speculation has erupted all over Twitter that this means it was probably a deaf parrot.
The Phillies plan to start Lively at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. To replace the bird, they plan on getting some hermit crabs.
