An honor usually reserved for A-List celebrities or soon-to-be dead kids, Eagles’ wide receiver Riley Cooper will have the privilege of helping to drop the ball in Times Square tonight as we bring in the New Year.
“We didn’t think there was anyone better than Cooper to drop a ball,” said New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. “Of course, I still won’t let him go anywhere near my wife or kids because of what he might say.”
Traditionally the ball in Times Square is dropped by remote control or button pushing. This year the ball will be dropped when thrown to Cooper while wide open down the sidelines in a critical moment during the 4th quarter. Mayor de Blasio has no doubts Cooper will succeed at something for the first time in his life.
